Why Select OKOs Over Other Carburetors
The OKO "D" slide carburetor has become of particular interest to off-road riders, as well as road riders, due to its ability to provide extremely smooth running at all throttle openings, and instant throttle response, while extracting more usable power from engines than "round slide" carburetors.  The slide edge is set much closer to needle jet than in round slides.  Air flows faster and smoother through the bore due to the slide and jet block configuration, which helps to create a smooth bore effect.  The high velocity air flow means a stronger vacuum at the needle jet, providing more precise metering, better fuel atomization and therefore better throttle response and power.

The real beauty of the OKO "D" slide design is that it has enabled OKO to simplify jetting.  The older technology of round slide carburetors required the use of many different slide cutaways and a variety of needle jet and needle sizes.  D slide technology has eliminated the need for various slide cutaways, needles and needle jets.  For most applications, one needle has worked best for carburetor sizes from 21mm to 28mm.  For each size carburetor there is just one needle jet as well.  So tuning becomes simpler, finding the correct size pilot jet for idle, finding the best needle clip position for mid-range, and finding the best size main jet for 3/4 to full throttle.  To a tuner this is a blessing, as several tuning factors of round slides have been eliminated.  At the same time, smoother running and idling, better throttle response and more power are obtained.

It should be noted that the OKO is being copied by many manufacturers in China.  On the outside they are almost identical to the OKO, and their packaging proclaims them to be real OKOs.  Internally however, the pilot jet circuit is poorly designed and apparently not tested, since dialing in one circuit often throws off other circuits, making them impossible to tune properly.  We provide a page that compares genuine OKOs to one of the "better" Chinese copies.  One characteristic that makes it easy to distinguish real OKOs to Chinese copies is OKOs have four holes in the carburetor body so the clear bowl can be attached.  Practically all of the copies only have two holes, used to attach the metal bowl.

We hope this information is helpful for you.  We have been won over by these carburetors after years of tuning Mikunis, AMALs, DeLortos, IRZs and others, and is the reason we began offering them, at first to our friends, and then to the general public.  We stand behind all of the OKO products and are here to help anyone interested in trying these on their motorcycles.  We invite you to look around our site for more information and how to purchase an OKO carburetor or kit.
